Privacy Policy — Leyne
Leyne is built to be private by default. We do not run accounts, we do not ask you to sign in, and we do not operate a server that stores your personal information. This policy explains exactly what happens to data when you use the app.
Summary
- We (the developer) do not collect, store, or sell any personal data.
- Your pinned stops and preferences stay on your device.
- Location is used only on your device to find nearby bus stops.
- Bus data comes from LTA DataMall; requests contain only bus stop and service codes — never anything about you.
- The app shows ads via Google AdMob. With your permission (the tracking prompt on iOS, or your OS-level ads-personalisation setting on Android), ads may be personalized; otherwise they are non-personalized. Google collects limited device and usage data to serve and measure ads.
Information stored on your device
The following is saved locally using each platform's standard
settings store — NSUserDefaults on iOS,
SharedPreferences on Android — and is never
transmitted to us or anyone else:
- Pinned bus stops, nicknames, and which services you track
- Recent searches
- App preferences (sound, haptics, onboarding state)
The app also caches LTA's bus stop / bus services / bus routes datasets to your device's standard app cache directory for ~7 days so the app starts quickly and works briefly offline. These datasets are public open data and contain no personal information.
This data is removed when you delete the app.
Location
Leyne requests “While Using the App” location access for one purpose: to find and sort bus stops near you. Your location:
- Is processed on device only;
- Is not sent to our servers (we have none) or to LTA;
- Is not stored or shared.
You can deny or revoke location access at any time:
- iOS: Settings ▸ Leyne ▸ Location
- Android: Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Leyne ▸ Permissions ▸ Location
The app remains usable without location (you can search stops manually).
Bus data — LTA DataMall
Live arrivals, stops, services, and routes are retrieved from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) DataMall API. These network requests include only non-personal identifiers such as a bus stop code or service number. No device or personal data is added by the app. LTA's handling of that API traffic is governed by LTA's own terms and privacy practices.
Advertising — Google AdMob
Leyne displays banner ads through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and process:
- Device identifiers — including the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA) or the Android Advertising ID, when you allow tracking — and a coarse, IP-based location;
- Ad interactions (views, taps) and app/diagnostic usage related to ads;
- On iOS, Apple SKAdNetwork signals for privacy-preserving install attribution.
Your consent controls this. On first launch Leyne shows Google's consent flow (Google User Messaging Platform) where it is required — for example a GDPR consent form for users in the EEA/UK — and, on iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt:
- If you allow tracking, Google may use the advertising identifier to show you personalized ads.
- If you decline, or where consent is not given, Google serves non-personalized ads and does not use the advertising identifier for cross-app tracking.
In either case some data is processed by Google as an independent controller. See:
- Google Privacy Policy — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from sites/apps that use its services — https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
You can change your tracking / ads-personalisation choice any time:
- iOS: Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking; and limit ad measurement under Apple Advertising.
- Android: Settings ▸ Security & privacy ▸ More privacy & security ▸ Ads (path varies slightly by manufacturer — Samsung's One UI nests it under Privacy ▸ Ads). You can opt out of personalized ads and reset your advertising ID from there.
What we do not do
- No user accounts, profiles, or sign-in.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs other than what AdMob requires for ads.
- No selling or renting of data.
- No collection of contacts, photos, health, or financial data.
Children
Leyne is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Revoke location in your phone's Settings at any time (paths above).
- Allow or decline ad tracking (iOS) or change ads personalisation (Android) when prompted, and update it later from system Settings.
- Delete the app to erase all locally stored data, including pins, recents, preferences, and the LTA data cache.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the “Effective date” above and post the revised policy at this URL before the change takes effect.
